HOUSE OF EM

HOUSE OF EM

Residential
Architecture, Interior Design
Singapore

When we were appointed onto the project, the house had been uninhabited for a period of time and had been mainly used as a storage space, from dated reading materials to a vintage vehicle parked along the driveway. We were simply thrilled by the challenges presented by the house. Defying the urge to intensify the built-up like many of their neighbours, the couple preferred the quaint character of the existing single storey typology and it suited their needs as a family. With design sensibilities inspired by the couple’s journey spanning across Singapore, Denmark and more recently, Hong Kong, the house underwent extensive works to repair the existing structures, replacing all indoor and outdoor materials as well as bringing in more daylight into the interior. This has been a labour of love to restore the beauty of the existing while breathing new life into its longevity.
