Institution
Architecture Competition
Singapore
The new Char Yong Association building sits between the 6-storey hotels to its South and the 2-storey shophouses to its North. It terraces down from the party wall shared with Diamond hotel to meet the intimate shophouse backlane. It has a glass facade which opens up the building to its surroundings. A secondary metal-mesh facade acts as a veil to create a tranquil urban oasis within.
The Veil of Char Yong is the physical manifestion of the association’s ambition to promote and propagate the culture and spirit of the Hakkas.
AN OUTWARD AMBITION
A transparent facade that promotes and propagates the internal activities of Char Yong
Associationg and its tenants to its surroundings.
